My love of interior and architectural design began at an early age designing houses in Lego as a child and this passion for all things creative continues in all aspects of my life. I completed a BA Honours degree & a BArch in Architecture, an Interior and 3D design qualification and having worked over 25 years in the property industry in various guises, I have gained a wealth of valuable knowledge and experience and am delighted now to have joined the Richard Grafton Showroom team. Working as part of a team to help customers create beautiful spaces and working in a fantastic showroom with creative colleagues is very rewarding.
My personal influences have come from architects and designers to name but a few – Alvar Aalto, Tadao Ando, Zara Hadid and my favourite furniture designers Charles and Ray Eames and Eileen Grey. One of my passions is chairs and the history of specific designs; the Lounge Chair and Ottoman, No.670 & No.671 designed in 1956 by Charles and Ray Eames, being a personal favourite. I believe that furniture and objects in a home or workplace should provide pleasure to those living in the space – a room or scheme design can all start with a favourite piece which begins the story.
My personal style I would say is eclectic – I love patterns and textures alongside the simplicity of Danish and Scandinavian design. We all have different styles so it’s important to design a space that works for the lifestyle of the client - the design, materials and construction of the space or of the objects within a space, should all be considered as equal.
