We are going to begin sharing our ‘top 5 tips’ series of blogs again from our expert design team. Offering insider knowledge and insight to ensure you are maximising the different rooms in your home. For the opening series we wanted to focus on a room that can often get overlooked and put to the bottom of the list, yet has so much potential as a real show stopping space, the bathroom!

Here’s five top tips from our founder Richard Grafton on maximising your bathroom to add wow factor whilst also adding value to your property:

  1. Bespoke cabinetry is not just for kitchens!

Incorporating bespoke cabinetry, whether it’s an under-sink unit or built in storage, can add a touch of luxe to your bathroom. A far cry from flat pack off the shelf options, our sink units are handmade by our expert joiners and feature beautiful detailing designed to last and perfectly suit the space and overall design. Since storage is usually fairly minimal in a bathroom a beautifully crafted cabinet can be a cost-effective way of giving your bathroom that luxury look.

  1. Get inventive with your flooring

The trend for vibrant patterned flooring is continuing and we love using the latest designs from brands such as Lapicida to lift a neutral bathroom space. Geometric patterns look great against a plain backdrop of traditional white bathroom fittings and porcelain floor which imitates the look of wood introduce a fun and contemporary twist to the room.

  1. The new roll-top

Sleek egg shaped baths are replacing the traditional roll top when it comes to free standing baths and the elegant shape makes them just as timeless. We love them so much we have one from Victoria + Albert in each of our showrooms.

  1. Ditch the traditional lay out

Often our customers feel quite limited with the layout of their bathroom but thinking differently about the space and how you use it can transform the traditional. Dividing walls that are lower in height and that can be walked around can be used innovatively to section off space without completely blocking out the light or disrupting the flow of the room!

  1. Let there be light

The bathroom might not be an obvious room in which to introduce clever lighting but there’s no better way to create a relaxed and serene space than with soft, cleverly placed lighting features. There are lots of options, whether it’s an under vanity unit glow or illuminating spotlights framing the bath. Brands like Curiousa & Curiousa also have chandeliers suitable for wet rooms and the effect takes your bathroom from glum to glam!
